KAFD, LoYAC Jordan sign agreement to create internships for university students

AMMAN — The King Abdullah Fund for Development (KAFD) and the Lothan Youth Achievement Centre (LoYAC Jordan) on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement aimed at providing public and private university students with internship opportunities.

The agreement will allow LoYAC Jordan to develop and implement their “Darb” programme, which will provide students with 875 internship opportunities during its first phase. A second phase will provide 325 more internships, in addition to employment for 100 students after they finish training, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Under the patronage of the Chairman of the KAFD Board of Trustees Alaa Batayneh, KAFD Director Saeb Al Hassan and LoYAC Jordan Managing Director Rula Jardaneh, signed an agreement to implement the Darb programme.

During its last round, Darb benefited 169 students who acquired permanent jobs after finishing their internships, along with practical skills and experience.

Implemented in cooperation with the KAFD, LoYAC Jordan and the Planning Ministry, the Darb programme is an opportunity for students to use their theoretical knowledge gained at universities and encourages them to engage in training programmes to help them in their future careers.

Darb was launched in 2011 and is a national initiative by LoYAC Jordan — a non-profit organisation — that targets university students across the Kingdom through workshops and internships in public and private companies, according to Petra.
