Senate president delivers King’s letter to Kuwaiti emir during visit to boost ties

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah sent a letter to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on Tuesday highlighting the two countries’ deep relations and Jordan’s keenness to improve them in different areas.

In the written letter, delivered by Senate President Faisal Fayez, King Abdullah expressed his appreciation for Kuwait’s support to Jordan, stressing the importance of maintaining coordination on various Arab and regional issues to face the challenges that Arab nations are experiencing, according to a Royal Court statement.

The King also sent his greetings to Sheikh Sabah, expressing his sincere wishes of progress and prosperity for Kuwait and invited him to visit the Kingdom to build on the relations of the two countries.

During the meeting at Bayan Palace, the Kuwaiti emir added that coordination with King Abdullah on regional and global issues of mutual interest is a continuous practice which enhances bilateral relations, the statement added.

Sheikh Sabah underlined Kuwait’s keenness on sustaining security and stability in Jordan, stressing that Kuwait has always been by Jordan’s side and will not abandon it as it rises to overcome economic challenges.

Fayez congratulated Sheikh Sabah on the 13th anniversary of his coronation, reiterating that the two countries’ relations are based on mutual respect.

Fayez praised Sheikh Sabah’s efforts in supporting the Kingdom in light of Jordan’s difficult economic circumstances resulting from the unstable conditions in the region. He reiterated that in spite of the circumstances, the country has managed to fortify its internal front and preserve its social fabric.

He also called on Kuwait to play a vital role at the London conference, which will be held to support the Kingdom’s investment and development.

Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah also received Fayez, who reviewed the present regional situation and the challenges facing the Kingdom.

During his official visit, which came after an invitation by Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al Ghanim, Fayez also met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah.

The Kuwaiti prime minister said that he, accompanied by a number of Kuwaiti businessmen, will pay a visit to the Kingdom next month during which a number of agreements will be signed.
