AMMAN — The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) on Monday launched a project at the Dana Biosphere Reserve to improve “green infrastructure” while employing Syrian refugees and members of local host communities.
The project, which will be implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation in partnership with the Environment Ministry and Danish Refugee Council, aims to establish and develop green infrastructure, while providing employment for 20 per cent of refugees and 80 per cent of locals, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Dana Reserve manager, Amer Rfou, said that the one-year project covers areas in Ajloun, Jerash, Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, Zarqa, Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, adding that Jordanian and Syrian labourers would also be involved in practical training programmes to enhance their abilities and skills.
