AMMAN — The Jordan’s Truck Association on Thursday signed an agreement with the Syrian Exporters Union to eliminate the intermediary interference on the trucking sector aimed at guaranteeing the rights of truck owners, the Jordan News Agency, reported.

The President of Jordan’s Truck Owners Association Mohammad Dawood added that the agreement is meant to prevent intermediary “brokers” from plowing through procedures so that truck owners are protected and can obtain their real wages.

He also said that transfer costs had not yet been decided, pointing out that the first Jordanian truck will pass Jaber crossing into Syrian Nasib crossing within the next two days, marking the return of trade exchange between Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Europe and Turkey.

Dawood affirmed that there are 8,000 trucks, which are ready for transferring goods upon request, adding that another 5,000 trucks are also ready to enter Syria at anytime.

The president noted that a Syrian economic delegation, chaired by international shipment union chief, Saleh Kashoor, was the second team to arrive in Jordan through Jaber border crossing with a mission to enhance the economic relations of the two countries.

Dawood said that four trucks loaded with goods will pass through Jaber crossing soon, two of which will deliver goods in Jordan and the other two will proceed through to Saudi Arabia.

According to official figures, 120 Jordanian trucks a day, loaded with vegetables used the Syrian border crossing before the crisis.
