Razzaz emphasises ‘fair’ water distribution to all citizens

AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz stressed that the existence of prejudice by some employees in distributing water shares to citizens is totally unacceptable, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prime minister made the remarks during an unannounced visit to the Yarmouk Water Company (YWC) on Tuesday, following complaints from citizens about poor water supply in the northern governorates.
Razzaz called on the YWC to transparently and clearly commit to water distribution programmes, in addition to improving the service and controlling the quantity of water losses. Razzaz gave the YWC two weeks’ notice to comprehensively handle the issue, stressing that the current method used to provide service to citizens cannot go on any longer.
He pointed out that the complaints focused on the failure to comply with the water distribution schedule for citizens which is not being applied on the ground. The YWC’s general manager explained the challenges the efforts to address them.
