PSD warns against suspicious links on social media

AMMAN — The Public Security Department’s  (PSD) anti-cybercrime unit on Thursday warned citizens against dealing with links spread on social media outlets and the mobile application Whatsapp.

The warning focused on links that require filling in personal information to win financial awards and mobile phone credit cards or to receive a job, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The unit stressed that these links pretend to be issued by telecommunications, employment or commercial companies or even ministries and public institutions, noting that, after tracing one link, the unit personnel discovered that it was a virus gathering personal information.
