In the firmament of legendary stars, few shine as brightly as Tom Jones. The British singer, who has been in the limelight without a break since the early 1960s, is coming to perform in Amman this week. He will be singing on Wednesday evening at the Palace of Culture.
The man with the captivating, powerful voice, who has sang and recorded countless songs that have become part of our musical landscape, still displays as much energy and stamina as in the beginning. From participating as a judge in The Voice UK 2018 to relentless, extensive touring all over the world this very summer, Sir Tom Jones shows what enduring really means on the international music scene, to the absolute delight of his faithful fans.
From “Delilah” to “The green, green grass of home”, “She’s a lady”, “What’s new pussycat”, “I who have nothing” and the extraordinary “Thunderball” — the James Bond theme from 1965, to name only a few, Tom Jones’ megahits have become standards, a true and integral part of the English song heritage.
Tom Jones’ universal, undying success can be put on the account of his exceptionally beautiful voice that combines raw power, charm and superb rendition of the songs he chooses to interpret. Moreover, the intrinsic beauty of the songs, in all that the music and the lyrics can hold and bring, greatly adds to making them superb, lasting evergreens that the singer’s fans like to listen to over and over again.
The exceptional event takes place in the scope of the Jordan Festival 2018, a set of concerts organised by Friends of Jordan Festivals (FJF), under the patronage of Lina Annab minister of tourism who said that “this festival is a great way to promote Jordan as a tourism destination, especially by hosting international artists”.
Speaking to The Jordan Times, SouhaBawab, the executive director of FJF, said that “whereas no specific song list has been set for the concert, Tom Jones has promised to sing at least ten of his most famous songs. He is coming to Amman with a team of 32 people, including musicians, technicians and assistants”.
Fans in Jordan are eagerly waiting to attend Tom Jones’ unique concert.
