Murad leaves for follow-up on Qatar’s pledged job creation

AMMAN — Labour Minister Samir Murad on Monday arrived in Doha for a two-day visit to follow up on and discuss the jobs that were pledged last June for Jordanians by the Qatari government, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Gulf country pledged to provide 10,000 job opportunities for Jordanians in Doha and to fund investments worth $500 million to assist the Kingdom in facing economic challenges.

Murad said that the visit came upon an invitation from the Qatari government, presented by Qatar’s Chargé d’affaires Abdul Aziz Sadah, noting that his ministry will announce the details after meeting with the relevant officials.

The Qatari embassy in Amman warned that some news websites and social media accounts have been promoting fake links to apply for vacancies in Qatar, stressing that such links are invalid and unauthorised to receive job applications.

“A joint committee was formed to look into the mechanisms to receive applications to benefit from the job vacancies announced by Qatar to Jordan,” the embassy said in a statement on its official Twitter last month.
