Challenges facing Jordan had grave impact on health sector — Sheyyab

AMMAN — Minister of Health Mahmoud Sheyab on Sunday said the challenges facing Jordan had a grave impact on the health sector, especially as the country is hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The minister’s remarks came during a meeting at his office with World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Region Ahmed Mandhari, in the presence of WHO Representative in Amman Cristina Profili and the accompanying delegation.
The minister highlighted Jordan’s achievements in primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare and added that the health sector has achieved quality strides that received international interest and reputation. Sheyyab lauded the great efforts of the WHO in backing Jordan’s health programmes and wished continued support in the field of capacity-building and training, as well as supporting the National Antimicrobial Plan.
For his part, Mandhari praised the Kingdom’s key achievements in the health sector despite the huge challenges facing Jordan at all levels and expressed WHO’s readiness to provide technical support to Jordan.
