12.7 per cent rise in tourism revenues since January — CBJ

AMMAN — Tourism revenues in the first 10 months of 2017 increased by 12.7 per cent, up to $3.9 billion (some JD2.7 billion), compared to $3.46 billion (some JD2.45 billion) in the same period of 2016, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) announced on Wednesday.

CBJ, in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said that the increase was mainly due to a 8.9 per cent rise in the total number of tourists compared to the same period last year. In October alone, the Kingdom’s revenues from tourism grew by 18.5 per cent, reaching $366.6 million (around JD259.9 million), compared to October 2016.
