11,000 children of security officers applied to university through makruma

AMMAN — Director of the military's Education Department Brig. Gen. Mohammad Abu Zeid on Saturday said that the number of children of security personnel who applied for universities through the Royal Benefaction (makruma) has reached 11,000.
Abu Zeid noted that the department has allocated grants for 10, 000 students for the first semester of 2017-2018 for children of military and security agencies service personnel, who have served for 10 years of more, which accounts for 20 per cent of the total number of seats at the Jordanian universities.
He added that the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army pays JD43 million annually for universities to cover expenses of the student beneficiaries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
