AMMAN — The Public Security Department (PSD) on Wednesday said it will use drones and helicopters to monitor unacceptable behaviours that would accompany the announcement of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination’s (Tawjihi) results.

In addition to festive firing, the majority of violations recorded in relation to the exam results usually involves motorcades that hinder traffic flow, celebrators bringing their bodies out of vehicles and reckless driving, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Earlier this week, the Education Ministry announced that the results of the examination will be released on Thursday.

The department will implement a special security and traffic plan to deal with some of the negative behaviours that accompany this occasion and affect the daily life and safety of citizens, a PSD official said.

The security plan will be enforced through the different PSD departments and will focus on the deployment of patrols, security stations and officers in civilian and military clothes to monitor and control any violations, especially festive firing, and arrest the perpetrators if needed.

“The most severe legal and administrative measures will be taken against those who disregard the risks of this festive firing phenomenon, which has caused the death of many innocent citizens”, the PSD added.

The department urged the public to cooperate with authorities and respect the law when celebrating the results.

Minister of Education Omar Razzaz will hold a press conference at the Queen Rania Centre for Education Technology on the results of the Tawjihi 2017 summer session at noon on Thursday.

The ministry said the results will be announced online at www.tawjihi.jo, Petra reported.
