Using technology in education ideal solution to enhance innovation — King

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday chaired a meeting, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania, to follow up on the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Human Resources 2016-2025.

During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, stakeholders reviewed efforts to unify the action of various institutions and programmes tailored to enhance vocational and technical training and enhancing the providers’ efficiency and the quality of the outcome in a way that meets the requirements of the labour market. 

His Majesty stressed the need to infuse technology into education and implement structural reforms in the vocational education sector, according to a Royal Court statement.

Using modern technology in education is the ideal solution to enhance innovation and excellence among students, which would be reflected on the quality of education, His Majesty said. 

The government has to accelerate the process of restructuring the vocational and technical training as a priority, the King said.

He commended the progress made by the government in executing the strategy, stressing the importance of assuring the quality of programmes and following-up on implementation, observing a fixed timeframe.

His Majesty stressed the need for all officials and employees of different positions to fulfil their responsibilities and overcome any obstacles that face progress.

He highlighted the importance of identifying the weaknesses and strengths in the educational process by applying accreditation, quality and academic benchmarks.

For his part, Prime Minister Hani Mulki said that the government has worked on the strategy as a priority and is following up on the implementation continuously. 

Education Minister Omar Razzaz outlined the measures taken by several ministries in coordination with the concerned vocational institutions.

He cited plans by the Education Ministry to take measures to improve the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) and better use of technology in education.
