AMMAN — Yarmouk Water Company (YWC) on Monday announced the launch of its new strategy to help improve performance in providing water and wastewater services in northern governorates of Jordan.

Supported by USAID Water Management Initiative Project, the strategy is part of YWC’s plan to enhance the performance of utility companies in Jordan as well as to implement other sector-related initiatives, a USAID statement said.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Minister of Water and Irrigation Hazim Al Nasser with the attendance of USAID Deputy Mission Director Nancy Eslick, representatives of the ministry, the Water Authority of Jordan, the Jordan Valley Authority, donor agencies and water utilities.

Nasser commended the announcement, saying that the water-related challenges had increased beyond capacity, particularly in the northern regions where the Kingdom hosts Syrian refugees.
