Tarawneh attends international conference on higher education

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Saturday attended the International Conference on Governance in Higher Education Institutions, organised by the Arab Universities Governance Council in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities and the Middle East University.
In a speech delivered at the conference, attended by chief executive of the UK’s Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, Alison Johns, and presidents of Jordanian and Arab universities, Tarawneh highlighted the role of universities and research in improving understandings of governance, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Association of Arab Universities Secretary General Sultan Abu Orabi said the two-day conference aims to boost the concepts of accountability, transparency and participation in decision making. The first day covered 20 research papers out of 40, presented by experts from Jordan, the UK, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Sudan.
