AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates is following up with the embassy in Washington to verify reports on the death of a Jordanian in Texas, Spokesperson Sabah Al Rafie said on Tuesday.

A 44-year-old man, who is a father of four, was reportedly killed during an armed robbery carried out by unidentified assailants in a shop he works at in Texas, according to local media reports.

News websites said the US authorities are investigating the incident.

In Canada, a Jordanian-Canadian citizen who was found in his car with stab and burn marks was hospitalised and his condition is stable, Rafie said.

The spokesperson said the ministry is following up with the concerned Canadian authorities and awaiting official information on investigation results.

In early January, two young Jordanian men were shot dead by masked assailants while working at a restaurant in Indianapolis in the US.

On New Year’s Eve, two Jordanians were killed in a terrorist attack at Istanbul’s Reina restaurant and club, when a terrorist opened fire on the crowd, killing at least 39 people and injuring dozens more.
