AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday offered his condolences to the Canadians in a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, over the death of Linda Vatcher in Sunday's terror attack in Karak, a Royal Court statement said.

For his part, Trudeau offered his condolences over the death of seven security personnel and two civilians in the attack, condemning it and stressing Canada's support for Jordan in the face of terrorist groups. Also on Monday, Trudeau issued a statement on the terrorist attack in Karak.

"I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of a Canadian and the injury of her son in a terrorist attack that took place in Karak, Jordan, that has left several dead and many more injured," he said, adding that embassy personnel in Amman are providing consular assistance and are working with Jordanian officials.
