Australian human rights envoy commends Jordan’s efforts

AMMAN — The Government’s coordinator on human rights, Basil Tarawneh, on Wednesday discussed regional and international developments regarding human rights with Australian Special Envoy for Human Rights Philip Ruddock and an accompanying delegation.

Discussions covered His Majesty King Abdullah’s recent visit to Australia and ways of boosting cooperation. Tarawneh highlighted the burdens Jordan is shouldering as a result of hosting refugees despite the Kingdom’s scarce resources. For his part, Ruddock, who said he had visited Jordan more than once, commended the progress achieved in all fields, especially in human rights.
