AMMAN — The two Houses of Parliament and the government on Thursday received the 64th annual report of the Audit Bureau from its president, Abed Kharabsheh, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The report’s copies were sent to Prime Minister Hani Mulki, Senate President Faisal Fayez and Lower House First Deputy Speaker Khamis Atiyeh.

The report lists violations committed in public institutions and the bureau’s recommendations on the best methods to address them.

Stressing his support for the bureau, Mulki directed ministries and government institutions to cooperate with the oversight agency to address its observations to safeguard public funds.

For his part, Fayez said the report will be referred to the Senate’s concerned committees, asserting the Upper House’s keenness on cooperating with the Audit Bureau.

Atiyeh said the report will be discussed by the Lower House in detail to take the appropriate measures.

Under the Constitution, the Audit Bureau presents an annual report to the two Chambers of Parliament at the beginning of every ordinary session.

It lists the outcomes of observing the institutions under its oversight. The agency also presents any other reports or data requested by Parliament.

Kharabsheh thanked Parliament and the government for supporting the bureau in its endeavours to protect public funds.
