AMMAN — Higher Education Minister Adel Tweisi on Wednesday discussed bilateral cooperation with his counterpart in the Kurdistan region of Iraq Yusuf Goran, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Tweisi urged Goran to increase the number of Jordanian universities recognised in Kurdistan, where currently only two of Jordan’s 31 universities are accredited.
The minsiter highlighted the process of reform in higher education. For his part, Goran said many university graduates are specialised in academic subjects, while too few have vocational qualifications.
As for acknowledging Jordanian universities, the Kurdish minister said the issue is related to master’s and PhD degrees rather than undergraduate programmes, urging Jordan to increase the number of Kurdish universities it recognises.
