Jerash to become environmentally friendly by 2017 — mayor

AMMAN — Jerash Municipality is preparing a project to become an environment-friendly city in 2017, Jerash Mayor Ali Qoqazeh said Saturday. The municipality is currently implementing various schemes to support the project, such as transferring the handicraft professions to the city’s industrial estate, he said, noting that traffic jams in the city are expected to be resolved by a new JD1-million multistorey car park.

Qoqazeh told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the municipality will also establish a JD7-million modern slaughterhouse for white and red meat. The municipality has already planted the city’s entrances and its roundabouts with evergreen trees, the mayor said.
