AMMAN — The government is working to support the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to hold the municipal and governorate council elections next year, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State Musa Maaytah said on Thursday.
Deputising for Prime Minister Hani Mulki in inaugurating a conference on reform in Jordan, Maaytah said the government is also working on finalising legislation related to the Decentralisation Law necessary to hold these elections, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He added that the Decentralisation Law aims to redistribute development gains equitably across the Kingdom.
