AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality’s (GAM) slaughterhouse directorate on Wednesday said it will be working throughout Eid Al Adha, or the feast of the sacrifice, to receive the public, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Those wishing to have their cattle medically examined will be served by 50 veterinarians available across the GAM-designated locations, according to Mahdi Aqrabawi, head of the slaughterhouse directorate.
The vets will be responsible for determining whether the animals would be fit for human consumption after the sacrifice rite, and that they comply with the standards, according to Petra.
The department will also carry out the examination and the slaughter of 7,000 sacrificial animals under a Royal benefaction (makruma) for the seventh year running. The meat will be distributed to families in need, Petra reported.
