AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel on Friday evening arrested a suspect in the murder of a man in his 30s, a security official said on Saturday.
Within hours of the crime, the CID received information that a body had been found on a street in Salt.
Agents arrived at the scene accompanied by the prosecutor and a forensic doctor who examined the body.
“The department staff found the body of a young man covered in blood after receiving multiple stab wounds in several parts of his body,” said Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi.
He noted that an investigation led to the suspect, who confessed the stabbing of the victim with a sharp object after a dispute and leaving his body in a non-residential area in Salt.
According to a CID statement, the Criminal Court prosecutor is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan woman died on Friday after falling from the fifth floor of a building where she lived with her co-workers.
The woman had been employed at a factory in Al Hussein Industrial City in Karak, according to a PSD statement.
The body was referred to the forensic unit and an investigation is under way to uncover the circumstances behind the incident, the PSD said.
