AMMAN — The Jordan Times distributes on Thursday the 18th issue of Al Qibla newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Great Arab Revolt.

In its editorial, Chief Editor Fuad Al Khatib discusses how people had not believed that the Arabs would come out victorious over the Turks, but the Arabs triumphed and forced the Ottomans out of the Arab land.

Khatib goes back in history, praising the Arabs as persevering, determined people who shocked the Byzantine and Persian empires, although they were the underdogs in the region, and finally they prevailed.

On page 2 of the four-sheet paper, there are at-a-glance local and international news, including an item on a new issue of postage stamps, a story about counterfeiting  money (coins), Romania joining the allies in WWI and others.

The third page is dedicated to re-printed stories from Egypt’s Al Ahram and other regional and international newspapers, including German publications. The stories are published as is or paraphrased.

The fourth page of the biweekly features a variety of less serious news and non-news items, including poetry.

The distribution of Al Qibla (1916-1924) by The Jordan Times and other local dailies is part of celebrations of the centennial of the Great Arab Revolt.
