Jordan condemns Yemen terrorist attack

AMMAN — Jordan on Sunday condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a police-recruiting centre in the Yemeni port of Mukalla, claiming the lives of many innocent victims, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani stressed Jordan's constant stance that refuses all violent and terrorist acts of all forms, no matter what the motives are. 

Momani, who is also the government's spokesperson, voiced the Kingdom's solidarity with Yemen to face terrorism, offering condolences to the Yemeni government and people and to the families of the victims and wishing the injured a speedy recovery. 

A suicide bombing claimed by Daesh and a second attack killed 37 police officers on Sunday in Mukalla where a year of Al Qaeda rule ended last month, medics said, according to Agence France-Presse.

The suicide bomber killed at least 31 police recruits on the southwestern outskirts of the city, which is the capital of Hadramawt province, medics said, AFP reported.

The bomber detonated an explosives belt as he joined a line of men at a police recruiting centre, a provincial official said.

More than 60 people were also wounded in the attack in Fuwah district, a medical source said, according to AFP.
