AMMAN — Awqaf Minister Hayel Dawood on Tuesday said those born in 1944 or before are eligible to go for Hajj (the greater Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca) this year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

At a press conference held at the King Abdullah I Mosque, Dawood said all those who met the conditions set by the ministry should check with the awqaf departments in their area of residence to obtain a Hajj permit and take the legal oath.

The ministry then held the official draw, under which 910 pilgrims born between 1945 and 1959, in addition to 90 others from the reserve list, will be selected to also join the Hajj delegation. The names of those selected will be announced on the ministry’s website (www.awqaf.gov.jo).
