His Majesty King Abdullah in 2015 exerted intensified efforts in the local, regional and international arenas, which locally were aimed at improving the services presented to citizens and alleviating their burdens

 

Regionally and internationally, Jordanian diplomacy, led by His Majesty, followed a clear approach in dealing with several crises, especially through Jordan's nonpermanent membership in the UN Security Council, where the Kingdom contributed to endorsing many resolutions

 

In February, King Abdullah addressed the Jordanian people after the martyrdom of air force pilot Muath Kassasbeh, expressing the deepest sorrow over the incident

 

In March, His Majesty addressed Jordanians over the important role of the Kingdom in the region and the world. His Majesty also headed the Jordanian delegation participating in the 26th Arab Summit in Sharm El Sheikh. On the sidelines of the Egypt Economic Development Conference in Sharm El Sheikh in the same month, he took part in a four-way meeting on the peace process with the Palestinian and Egyptian presidents and the US secretary of state

 

In April, the Monarch participated in the 2015 Asian African Conference held in Jakarta and delivered a speech highlighting the importance of providing new opportunities for young people. He also met with a number of world leaders 

 

In May, the King went on an official visit to Germany, where he met with German President Joachim Gauck and German Chancellor Angela Merkel

 

In June, King Abdullah delivered a speech at the Fifth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions to enhance tolerance, moderation and coexistence among followers of different religions, held in Astana. He also went on a working visit to the UK and met with Prime Minister David Cameron

 

In July, His Majesty, accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania, participated in the Sun Valley Economic Forum in the US state of Idaho

 

In August, he chaired a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace to discuss means to advance the educational process and improve its outputs. Queen Rania also attended the meeting. Also in August, King Abdullah arrived in Moscow on an official visit during which he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin 

 

In September, His Majesty discussed ties and regional developments with Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korea's President Park Geun-hye. He also met with European Council President Donald Tusk, and stressed his condemnation of Israeli assaults on Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. In the same month, he also addressed the 70th Plenary Session of the United Nations General Assembly and participated in a counter-terrorism summit held by US President Barack Obama 

 

In October, His Majesty met with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee in Amman and discussed ways to facilitate Jordanian exports’ entry into Indian markets. He also met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and highlighted the Jordanian role in defending Jerusalem

 

In November, His Majesty attended the fourth Summit of South American and Arab Countries, in Riyadh. He also telephoned French President Francois Hollande and offered his condolences and sympathies over the victims of the Paris terror attacks. In the same month, he inaugurated the 17th Parliament's second ordinary session, held a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi and attended the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference in Paris

 

In December, King Abdullah discussed anti-terrorism efforts with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania also received German President Joachim Gauck and the First Lady and participated in the Mediterranean Dialogue, hosted by Rome with the participation of 40 countries. His Majesty said in an article for The Daily Telegraph newspaper of the UK that current events taking place in the Middle East will shape the security and stability of Europe and the world for decades to come. He also held talks with Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid in Amman
