AMMAN – Temperatures are forecast to drop in the coming days, with fair weather predicted for the Kingdom this week, said National Forecasting Centre Director Hussein Momani.

Momani said that temperatures in the capital on Sunday are expected to range between a high of 31°C during the day, and a low of 16°C at night.

“Fair weather is expected to continue in the capital until Tuesday, with a drop of temperatures to 28°C on Tuesday during the day and 15°C at night,” he told The Jordan Times over the phone.

Momani noted that rain is forecast to fall on Tuesday night especially in the eastern parts of the country.

Last Wednesday marked the first day of autumn, a season during which temperatures gradually drop and the country witnesses several Red Sea troughs that cause unstable weather conditions.

Relatively hot weather prevailed over the weekend.

Although autumn generally brings cooler weather, heatwaves are not unfamiliar. Conversely, autumn may also bring snowfall, especially during its last days, a phenomenon that occurred in 2013, 1992, 1980 and 1970, the Jordan Meteorological Department said.
