AMMAN — Municipal Affairs Minister Walid Masri requested that the Cabinet issue a final decision regarding the vacant mayoral position in Qriqra and Feynan Municipality after the death of the mayor last month.
Masri suggested holding elections for a new municipal council within three months of the mayor’s death. Otherwise, Masri said the deputy mayor can continue as acting mayor until the current council finishes its one-year term.
A third suggestion entails dissolving the current council and forming a special committee to temporarily run the municipality.
