‘Agricultural exports dropping due to shortage of trucks’

By Petra - Jun 13,2015 - Last updated at Jun 13,2015

AMMAN — Exports of fruits and vegetables to Gulf countries, namely Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman, decreased due to a shortage in refrigerator trucks, Merchants Union of Vegetables and Fruits Exporters Vice President Mahmoud Eqteel said Saturday.

The drop in exports resulted in a decrease in prices in the local market, according to Eqteel.

He called on the agriculture and transport ministries to take the necessary measures to offer trucks to export as much produce as possible, warning that farmers and traders might stop exporting if the situation remains the same because they cannot afford more losses.
