AMMAN — The Municipal Affairs Ministry on Tuesday launched its national strategy to improve the management of solid waste in municipalities.
The strategy, implementation of which will cost around JD100 million, includes a short-term work plan on speedy intervention to deal with the existing situation at municipalities.
It also entails the development of landfills, establishing small landfills in rural areas, and the implementation of strategic projects in partnership with the private sector such as waste sorting and recycling units.
Financed by the World Bank, the strategy seeks to find solutions for solid waste management to be implemented through 2020.
