GAM libraries receive 1,700 visitors daily

AMMAN — Greater Amman Municipality libraries receive 1,700 visitors daily, according to Public Libraries Department Director Hatem Hamlan.
Some 65,000 people are subscribed to GAM’s 53 libraries, which feature 600,000 Arabic and English titles, Hamlan said Sunday.
Some 120 events are held monthly at the libraries in cooperation with GAM’s Cultural Department, as well as with public and private institutions, he noted.
The first municipal library was established in 1960.
