Jordan, Turkey discuss anti-terror cooperation

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Thursday met with Turkish Education Minister Nabi Avci and stressed the importance of sustaining joint cooperation in fighting terrorism.
Avci delivered a message from Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to Ensour, in which he offered the Turkish government’s condolences over the martyrdom of pilot Muath Kasasbeh.
Ensour noted that His Majesty King Abdullah, on the sidelines of the Davos Forum held in January, met with Davutoglu and officially invited him to visit the Kingdom.
Ensour also reiterated Turkey’s important role in the international arena for its being an economic and scientific power, in addition to being a “strong supporter” of the Palestinian issue.
For his part, Avci expressed Turkey’s interest and willingness to enhance strategic cooperation between Jordan and Turkey, referring to the cooperation in the fields of higher education and technical and applied sciences between both countries’ universities.
Talks also addressed the possibility of establishing a joint technical college in the southern region of the Kingdom.
