National strategy to address rising terrorism

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday stressed the importance of instilling the Islamic value of moderation in new generations.
During a meeting with officials and representatives of entities working to implement the national strategy for combating extremism, the King said that fighting this phenomenon requires a comprehensive religious, cultural, educational, media and security approach.
He stressed the need to instil the ideas of moderation and tolerance, which are the main principles of Islam, in the minds of different generations so as to raise their awareness on confronting extremist ideologies, according to a Royal Court statement.
At the meeting held at Al Husseiniya Palace, officials briefed participants on the role and the plans of the different entities they represent to implement the strategy.
