Amman municipality urged to replace building by-law

By JT - Jan 13,2015 - Last updated at Jan 13,2015

AMMAN — The Jordan Engineers Association (JEA), the Jordan Contractors Association and the Housing Investors Association on Tuesday said the amended building regulation by-law for Amman should be replaced in its entirety to meet the needs of the city and investors.

In a letter to Amman Mayor Aqel Biltaji, the associations said the amended by-law does not refer to high-rise buildings despite their importance.

The letter, a copy of which was sent to The Jordan Times, called for discussing detailed items and remarks on the by-law through a joint committee of the three associations, in addition to holding workshops between the Greater Amman Municipality and stakeholders before endorsement.
