AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Tuesday received Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek and an accompanying delegation and discussed means to enhance bilateral ties and the latest regional developments.
During the meeting, Ensour highlighted the leading Turkish role in the regional and international political arena.
The premier also stressed that the region's woes are all the direct result of the absence of a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that can lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, Cicek commended Jordanian-Turkish relations, adding that the two countries are the most affected by the region's turmoil. He also commended Jordan’s moderate policies and the reforms achieved.
He also noted that Ankara always encourages Turkish investors to enter joint business ventures with their Jordanian counterparts, especially in Aqaba.
The meeting was attended by Industry and Trade Minister Hatem Halawani, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Khaled Kalaldeh, Water Minister Hazem Nasser and Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani.
