AMMAN – Fourteen MPs plan to head to Jerusalem to show solidarity with Palestinians there in defending Al Aqsa Mosque from Israeli occupation forces and Jewish extremists, prominent Lower House member Khalil Atiyeh told The Jordan Times Wednesday.

Atiyeh said that the delegation has officially notified Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, who had contacted the Foreign Ministry to facilitate the planned visit of the lawmakers.

"We want to be there to stand with our Palestinian brothers in defending Al Aqsa Mosque and holy sites in Jerusalem, and to support their struggle against Israel," the deputy said, adding that expenses of the visit will be paid by the MPs themselves.

Atiyeh said entry permits to occupied Palestinian territories will not be obtained through the Israeli embassy in Amman as the Foreign Ministry will arrange the trip.

Atiyeh said once trip arrangements are in place, they will leave immediately to Jerusalem.

The delegation includes, in addition to Atiyeh, Hind Fayez, Wafa Bani Mustafa, Shaha Abu Shosheh, Tamam Riyati, Abdul Majid Al Aqtash, Tareq Khouri, Mohammad Hjouj, Assaf Shobaky, Abdul Rahim Biqaai, Ali Bani Ata, Najah Azzeh, Mustafa Yaghi and Khamis Atiyeh.
