160 shops closed for health violations

AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has destroyed 860 tonnes of food and 4,800 litres of beverages deemed unfit for human consumption during the third quarter of 2014, Mervat Mheirat, director of GAM’s health supervision department, said on Sunday.
Around 160 shops were closed during the 5,966 inspection campaigns led by the department, Mheirate said.
