Customs agents foil attempt to smuggle tramadol pills

AMMAN — Jordan Customs Department (JCD) personnel on Saturday foiled an attempt to smuggle 10,872 tramadol pills into the country at Queen Alia International Airport after the owner attempted to pass the drugs off as nuts.
The JCD said it had also sezied 11,160 AA lithium batteries and 8,215 pieces of clothing, among other commodities, in separate incidents.
Customs fees and fines on these cases, which were referred to the prosecutor general, are estimated at JD128,000.
