AMMAN — Private hospitals’ plans to establish solar plants to generate electricity are facing obstacles, Private Hospitals Association President Fawzi Hammouri said Saturday.
Hammouri said the power grid cannot handle the extra 15 megawatts (MW) that the hospitals’ renewable energy projects could generate.
Hospitals need 35MW of electricity to operate, he said, adding that some hospitals applied to establish a 15MW station within the first phase of the project to generate power through solar cells.
