AMMAN — Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond on Friday discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the situation in Gaza, and the importance of reaching a new truce and arriving at a sustainable ceasefire.
In a telephone call, Judeh briefed the British diplomat on Jordan’s efforts at all levels, especially at the UN Security Council, to arrive at a ceasefire and ensure the respect of international humanitarian law.
He said Jordan supports the continued efforts exerted by Egypt to broker negotiations.
Judeh noted that only a political solution can guarantee Israel’s brutal aggression is not repeated again, calling for serious political negotiations that guarantee the establishment of an independent state on Palestinian national soil.
