‘Baseless fabrication’
Apr 08,2014 - Last updated at Apr 08,2014
In the article “Latin America’s Ukraine” (The Jordan Times, April 7, 2014), former Mexican foreign minister Jorge Castañeda affirms that government-sponsored groups are killing student protesters in Venezuela.
This is just another baseless fabrication against our government.
The truth about Venezuela, as Mark Weisbrot of The Guardian was able to see for himself during a visit to Caracas, is that all the riots our country has recently witnessed are instigated by the Venezuela’s far right opposition.
The fact of the matter is that this is a revolt of the well-off, not at all a “terror campaign”, as Weisbrot rightly shows.
Out of 35 people killed so far, 32 were killed by the security forces and the culprits are right now in jail awaiting trial.
