AMMAN — Mohammed Tayseer took one of the most thrilling rounds of a National Speed Test Championship for some time, after storming to victory in this year’s round two on Friday, according to the Jordan Motorsport Media Service.
The 2017 champion saved his best until last to record a dramatic victory by just 0.17 seconds from Ghaith Wreikat, who recorded the fastest times in the opening two qualifying rounds.
But it was the third and final round that counted with Tayseer clocking one minute 34.35 seconds to pick up maximum points.
It means he climbs to the top of the season’s rankings ahead of reigning champion Husam Salem who had to settle for third on the day, with Ihad Al Shurafa coming in fourth to sit in third overall for the season. It was a bumper field of drivers at the Royal Automobile Club with 62 entered.
In the other classes, Mohammed Naqawa took the rear wheel drive, while Khaled Juma was fastest in the front-wheel category. Round three will be held on June 28.
