Moroccan Badou Zaki appointed as new head coach of 'Nashama'

AMMAN — The Jordan Football Association (JFA) Board of Directors, chaired by HRH Prince Ali, has appointed Moroccan coach Badou Zaki as head coach of the national senior team to lead the “Nashama” in upcoming competitions, including the AFC Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia in early 2027.

Zaki has signed a one-year contract following the board’s approval of the resignation of former coach Jamal Sellami and his technical staff.

The new coach will be introduced with his technical staff, selected based on his recommendations.

Zaki, a former Morocco goalkeeper, led the team to the 1986 World Cup knockout stage, was named African Player of the Year that year and played for Real Mallorca. As a coach, he guided Morocco to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations final and managed clubs including Wydad Casablanca and FUS Rabat, as well as Sudan and Niger’s national teams.
