LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon Children’s race kicks off on Friday

AMMAN – The LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon Children’s race kicks off on Friday at the King Hussein Park with the participation of hundreds of students, according to Run Jordan.

Lina Al Kurd, Run Jordan general manager told The Jordan Times that the event promotes sport and a healthy lifestyle.

“The Children’s Race is organised for kids aged between 6 and 14 is part of our focus on living a healthy life and showing kids that sports can make a difference,” she said.

“We strongly believe that sports should be practiced by all ages. We are extremely excited by the reception from students and their schools to take part in the event on Friday; this shows the awareness reached by students to have a healthy life,” she added. 

Meanwhile, Dead Sea Ultramarathon, one of the most popular sporting events in Jordan will be held April 14.

The marathon enjoys strong popularity among runners and families and in 2015 a record number of over 7,000 runners took part in the event which saw Jordan runner Mithqal Abbadi clocking 2h58m19s to win the ultra-marathon 50km.

In 2016, the Ultramarathon went through some serious changes that required it to be rescheduled to 2017.

 

The Dead Sea Ultramarathon held under the patronage of HRH Prince Firas, chairman of the Board of Run Jordan has acquired the Bronze status after changes to the route of both the 50km and the 21km races.
