Jordan wins two powerlifting golds in the UAE

AMMAN — Jordan’s powerlifters have launched their campaign at the 10th Fazza Para Powerlifting World Cup being held in the UAE with a pair of gold medals, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.
The Kingdom has sent a team of nine athletes to the event, and got off to a great start with Omar Qaradeh taking gold in the 49kg after lifting 165kg, pipping opponents from Kazakhstan and Brazil to the top spot.
Teammate, Mohammad Al Shanti, showed his potential by grabbing gold in the same weight for juniors. Joining the pair in Fujairah are Mohammad Tarbash, Abdulkareem Khattab, Mutaz Al Junaidi, Mohammad Arar, Jameel Shebli, Asma Issa and Tharwat Al Hajjaj. The event will run until February 13.
