Work permit regulations in line with national recruitment strategy — Labour Ministry

AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour on Sunday said the by-law governing work permits of guest workers is in line with current economic conditions and the national recruitment strategy.

The ministry said the strategy stipulates the gradual replacement of guest workers with Jordanians, adding that business owners should consider hiring local workers due to the high cost of foreign employees.

Moreover, the regulations ensure that workers remain with the same employers, reduce cases of runaway domestic helpers, and secure workers’ rights.
