Winners of 10th edition of King Abdullah II Award for Creativity honoured

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Sunday attended a ceremony honouring the winners of the 10th edition of the King Abdullah II Creativity Award, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The award ceremony, hosted by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), features the only Jordanian prize in the Arab world. The biennial award includes the fields of literature and arts, science and issues related to the Arab city.
Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees former prime minister Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh affirmed that the award is one of His Majesty King Abdullah’s initiatives to honour Jordanian and Arab innovators.
Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee Yousef Shawarbeh said that the municipality launched the award about 20 years ago in implementation of the Royal vision to support creativity and innovators.
Egyptian novelist Issam Yousef won the literature and arts category under the theme “Phenomenon of drug proliferation: Combatting and treatment” for his novel “Quarter of a gramme”. Saudi national Waleed Al Hmeidi, representing Asir Municipality, won in the Arab city category under the theme “City identity: Preservation and Development”.
