AMMAN — The Water Ministry, during a campaign implemented in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), detected several cases of water theft on the Zara-Maeen Pipeline, which provides drinking water to Amman, and removed illegal fixtures pumping “large amounts” of water to fill water tankers from the the Al Kursi spring in Wadi Al Seer.
The ministry said that the case in Wadi Al Seer included removing five illegal fixtures, while the case on the Zara-Maeen pipeline included removing illegal fixtures that were used to divert more than 120 cubic metres of water per hour, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The cases were referred to the public prosecution office, which proceeded with the investigation and began to arrest suspects.
